Hi, I don't have a model like the one you've described. You could try MaxiAids, LSandS group or Independentliving aids. Be aware that the prodects and shipping charges vary with these websites. Personally, I like the telescoping types of canes. They're sleek and compact. I'm not generally too hard on canes, since I really only use them for going to work/school. So, you may just want to peruse different websites to find one you like. Hth.
You can also try the National Federation of the Blind
www.nfb.org
they have canes with smooth handles that may work well fro you.
When you say long cane, are you talking about a straight one, that doesn't fold up? I like the fiberglass kind. NFB sells them, and so does the Iowa Department for the Blind. You don't have to be a client to order from them. They also make long canes out of carbon fiber, but I personally don't like them.
In fact, the NFB is announcing a white cane innitiative. It is giving away free straight light weight canes, free of charge to any blind or visually impaired person in the US. I have one of these canes and mine doesn't have a ridged handle. As someone said earlier, the website is nfb.org. You can not get more than one in a 6 month period. So try it, what's the worst that can come of it?
The other kind of long cane I just thought of is called a Rainshine cane. They're made of fiberglass, too. but where most canes are hollow fiberglass, Rainshine ones are a solid fiberglass rod. They're virtually indestructible. However, they're also very heavy. I've tried one, and my wrist hurt after awhile. But if you're the kind of person who has problems breaking your cane frequently, then a Rainshine could be a good thing.
I only have the grafite cane with the ridged handle. It's a folding one and I've put a jumbo roller tip on the end, because I like those better than the aliminium canes and small roller tips.
